Meet your Guides

Wendy Battino
I will teach you to connect with the peace that is calling you home.  I am a Life Coach, BARE Health and Wellness Coach, and an Intuitive and I want to show you around my Alaska.  An outdoor adventurer, I have experienced powerful medicine in the natural world and gained strength and leadership over my life.  I use nature to help people remember their full brilliance and then to SHINE.  I dreamed up this retreat in order to show you how you can tap into your inner strength at any time and track where your best life wants to take you.  We will do this with playful dogs, crazy-gorgeous scenery, and you in your glory running a team of dogs with the biggest smile on your face.

Luzy
Luzy wants to meet you!  She is my soul sister, personal comedienne, wise woman, and mischievous crazy guru.  She is an Alaskan sled dog and my expedition partner.  Luzy teaches us how to communicate wordlessly with animals and will gently instruct you on the finer points of dog power.  She knows you want to join in this epic adventure.  You can check out her wisdom at #Luzylessons on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

Anja Fein Radano
Anja is an Iditarod Finishing dog musher, Veterinary Technician, and owner of Swamp Dawg Kennel in Talkeetna.  Anja and her team of 20+ happy Alaskan sled dogs will provide you an arena to tap into wild energy.  She will show you how mushing works and get you on the sled!  We will practice around her gorgeous lake front home.  Luzy came to me from Anja and you will get to learn from her considerable expertise.  Anja and her Swamp Dawgs are running the Iditarod again this year, look for her on Facebook!

What kind of physical shape do I need to be in?

This is an active physical retreat where you will spend time outside in various winter conditions.  You should physically be able to walk and sustain moderate levels of activity outside for an average of 2 hours and up to 4 hours in cold temperatures.

You do not need to be a super-athlete.  A desire to learn and a positive attitude are the elements of success.  My mission is to see you having fun.  We will most often have ways to get inside and get warm when you want to.

Get here!

If you are coming from outside Alaska, fly into Anchorage International Airport (ANC).  Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city at about 300,000 people, and the closest major airport to Talkeetna, which is a beautiful two-hour drive north of Anchorage.

You can pick up a rental car at the airport.

The Alaska Railroad is another spectacular way to travel, check the schedules as the railroad only runs to Talkeetna on Saturdays and returns to Anchorage on Sundays during winter.  You may want to carpool with other participants, let me know.  We can look into shuttle companies to transport you from Anchorage to Talkeetna as well.

Once you are in Talkeetna, the lodge is 5 miles from our quaint downtown.  If you listen carefully, you may hear your huskies howling just down the road.

Check-in at 3 pm so you can unpack and relax before we gather at 5:00 for our Welcome Dinner.

Plan to book your departing flight for March 29 after 5pm, giving yourself time to get back to the airport or head on to your next destination, noting transit times.

Your payment includes all your on-site retreat activities and adventures! Five nights accommodation private bedroom and bath, private and group coaching sessions as well as pre-trip assistance are included.  All gear is provided. All of your meals are taken care of (excluding alcohol), except one dinner when you get a free evening to decide to dine in or choose a night out.

Your payment is due in full at time of booking or a $1999 non-refundable deposit is put down with the balance due by January 7, 2019. Any cancellation forfeits $1999.00. Cancellations after January 27, 2019 the entire amount is non-refundable.

I cannot wait to show you Alaska.  Your home and base of operations for your adventure is Talkeetna, an historic village overlooking the confluence of three major rivers and 2 major Mountain ranges. Denali and the other peaks of the Alaska Range offer a magnificent backdrop for this picturesque town of 900+ souls.

I live here because of the natural beauty and because of the people.  Our friendly town is home to adventurous souls, people who build planes, boats, paddles, houses, children, music, plays, dog teams, community centers, fix things, create, shape and beautify the world.
