You are born with your very own direction finder.

You  may have lost touch with this important tool, but you need to pick  it up,
Because it charts your unique soul song and it always points you to your best life.

You see, I love a tool that can help me get where I want to go.  I am so keen on compasses that I have two in my employ and this is why the compass is my logo.  I carry a magnetic compass and I walk in my Body compass.

My Silva compass assists my rambles around planet earth.  I have spent some time finding my way in the wild and my trusty Silva has become a vital device for returning home.

My Body Compass helps me navigate toward the life I want and I use it nearly every day.   My mentor, Martha Beck coined this great term and reminds us that we have had this cool tool all along.  The Body Compass acts as your own personal guidance system to your truest self.

I use the Body Compass to step into mindfulness, to sharpen my intuition, and even to help make simple everyday decisions.  I teach my clients how to use their Body Compass to get where they want to go.  Sound interesting?  It is AWESOME.

How it helps You

  • Getting clear about what your soul wants
  • Getting clear about how to get what you want
  • When life is hard, help with your next best steps
  • Helps with transitions, weightloss, addictions and more

How it works

Our brain consciously processes about 40 bits of information per second.

This means our rational, analytical, verbal capacity is definitely impressive.  We humans have many ways to gather and process information.

Our unconscious processing is eleven million bits per second.

Eleven. Million.  The nonverbal aspects of our brains are very productive.  These include all the other ways we collect and understand information, including using our five senses.

Author and University of Virginia Professor of Psychology, Tim Wilson has conducted studies and written about our rational and nonverbal processes.

So, what significance does this play in our lives?  Lie detectors work on most people because our bodies do not like to lie.  Our grand verbal brains, however, lie like the dickens.  Our conscious brain makes shit up constantly.  We imagine and create.  Don’t get me wrong, this is very much a useful function, but it should not be put in charge of everything.  Our culture places a lot of emphasis on the rational brain, to the near exclusion of our nonverbal capacity.  My trusty silva is great for placing me on the map in the order of my rational brain, but I always use my Body Compass to find my own true North in life.

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”  Albert Einstein

Calibrate your Body Compass

Compass calibration refers to setting your compass so as to show correct and accurate directions.  You can start the calibration process for your Body in a few ways:

Body Scan – take a few minutes to sit with legs and arms uncrossed.  Begin at your feet and travel upwards to the crown of your head and just say hello to each body part, feeling what your body feels.

Discover your Body speak – The body compass speaks through your physical body.  First, think of positive experiences in your life,  pay attention to how your body feels when you are having this experience. Then, you do the same for negative experiences (do not think of the worst experiences, just go for mild).  This will help you understand how your Body tells you you are going in the right direction.  As you practice this you will see that your Body reacts physically to everything you do, and it communicates what brings you joy and what does not.

Practice! If you continue to practice these easy steps, you will open up a powerful communication channel within that you can use to map your own true path through life, charting what is right for you.
